FAQ - Cazuelas Care and Maintenance

Do cazuelas need to be seasoned before the first use?

Yes, we recommend immersing the cazuela in water for 8 hours. This is an optional step but helps its heat resistance.

Can cazuelas be used in the oven?

Yes, they are safe in the oven up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can cazuelas be used on the stovetop?

While the ceramic can withstand very high and low temperatures, it doesn't accept abrupt or rapid changes in temperature. For this reason, we do not recommend using them on the stovetop as the direct heat of a burner can occasionally cause them to crack. Slow and steady heat changes are best. Don't pour cold liquid into a hot cazuela, for example. It's also not advisable to heat an empty cazuela.

Do any of your ceramic cookware or serving vessels contain lead?

No. All our ceramic kitchenware is verified lead-free and food-safe.

Can cazuelas be put in the dishwasher?

Yes, they are safe for the dishwasher, as long as they are well-situated so they don't jiggle around and hit other items, which could case breakage. We recommend hand washing them with hot soapy water.
